Cerro Negro Volcano, Nicaragua

Scoob sandboarded down the outside of the volcano at 45 degrees for 600m.
Craig ran into the crater.

Climbing Cerro Negro Volcano...a 45 minute climb with a heavy board.

Fresh Coconut, Jamaica

There´s nothing like fresh coconut water...after a week of refried beans and rice.

The Strangling Ficus Tree

Climbing the tree from the inside after the tree beneath had disintegrated after decades of strangling. We climbed about 20m up for a great view in Santa Elena Costa Rica

Jamaica, Semi Final, World Cup Cricket

Here in Kingston Jamaica the cricket wasn´t much chop, but who cares when you´re winning. This game had a great atmosphere with a Pepsi brass band and cheer squad of about 30 people. Sri Lanka beat New Zealand.

San Blas Archipelago, Panama

Little Kuna boys.

These were the beautiful islands of San Blas in the Caribbean Sea.... one island had a single palm tree on it. 365 islands so they say... saw a grey nurse shark while snorkelling.

San Blas Toilets, Panama

The seat over the ocean... the fish have added protein.

Natural mud masks, El Valle, Panama

The very natural mud masks we had in El Valle....gritty bits included

Shower time

Hot water is a rarity in Central America. This is the electrical work of the hot water showers we´ve been fortunate enough to have.......A little worrying...... Like our black plastic window cover?

The Guatemalan Haircut

Yes girls, it is possible to get a wash, cut and blowdry for under $15......even without speaking the language. Despite it not looking like the picture pointed at it turned out fine.

Relaxing in El Salvador

Recovering from a reaction to ¨spider pee¨ poolside in a nice hotel after a jab in the butt.

Lake Atitlan, Guatemala

A view from our lakeside restaurant in San Pedro. We were recovering from altitude sickness a day after this photo was taken. No, it wasn´t the magic mushrooms that everyone but us were smoking. Perth isn´t a good training ground for the altitudes of central america.

Chichicastenango, Guatemala

Market Day Shopping

Tikal Mayan Ruins, Guatemala

The Tikal ruins we visited are set in a jungle and spans about 1.5km by 1km. Some ruins were from 700BC. There were many howler monkeys that sound like dogs barking, we saw a toucan and a woodpecker. We were able to climb a few of the ruins for amazing views above the treeline.

Volcano Telica, Nicaragua

From the 2 day trek we did camping 200m from the crater - as can be seen in the background of the tent photo. We heard it rumbling overnight and slept through a lightning and thunder storm. We didn´t get much sleep. Fortunately our tent was waterproof. 2 months prior to our trek there was a mini ash and gas explosion but it is well monitored. There was a seismic station near where we camped.

Semuc Champey, Guatemala

This is a beautiful set of swimming holes with cascading waterfalls that runs for about 1km. Underground runs a strong river which cuts into the limestone and exits back above ground. A phenomenon. We enjoyed swimming in the crystal clear water, even being occasionally nibbled on by fish.

Pacaya Volcano, Guatemala

We climbed this active volcano near Antigua, Guatemala. As you can see we were about 10m from the lava flow. We could feel the heat and there was parts of the walk up where we could feel hot breezes and hear the volcano ´breathing´. It was pretty amazing.
